Three Tips to Create a Holistic & Sustainable Nighttime Routine for your Wellbeing!

Over the last few months, I have encountered clients and customers that are drawn to our Calm Rollers when I share this particular benefit from the wellness collection. In greeting, I usually start with sharing a soft welcome of myself and what I do. It’s usually, sharing that I’m a Certified Wellness Coach & Therapeutic Product Creator so my products are intended to help adults relax, reduce stress, release tension, energize, and right when I part my lips to add sleep, they non verbally and verbally gesture- point me to that product! Throughout my years of practicing wellness, I have learned that there is an immense amount of power that we harness when we are sleeping, so I focus on the quality! It’s also extremely important to know that we are only powerful when we have secured and practice healthy sleep routines for everyday wellbeing.

Here are three tips to create and sustain your sleep care routine:

  1. Take Inventory of your Habits
  2. Adjust the Environment Accordingly
  3. Indulge in your Wellness Practice

Step 1: Take Inventory of your Habits

How have you been approaching your sleep care? I know we live in a non stop world and demands are constant. But, does that leave us well? When I have identified a misalignment or burnout of some sort, I start by taking inventory. I check for: what am I currently doing too much of? and how can I change it to make it better for my wellbeing? These two questions are simply navigations and can be activated immediately. How much do you value sleep? How is your current sleep routine? It’s obvious that we take care of what we value. But, the problem is that we miss the value of sleep! Super easy to do. When we are sleep, the body is being restored holistically. Mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The problem is that we sleep as a physical habit but miss focusing on the quality. So, I ask again, how much do you value sleep? Quality is nurturing sleep care routines. It’s intentional for the individual. Do you change your linens? Do you turn the phone off at a reasonable time to avoid scrolling? Do you take a relaxing shower or bath to create a rhythm of relaxation? Do you invest in aromatherapy products or sleep products like pillows, linens, diffusers, eye masks etc., to ensure that your experience is great every night?

If you struggled answering these questions, I want you pause and think about the value of these questions in your life.

If you didn’t struggle with those questions but still need a little more intention with sleep care, ponder these: how is your time management? Is work or other demands keeping you from going to sleep at your desired time?

Step 2: Adjust the Environment Accordingly

I know you’re already thinking about ways to take inventory of your habits, so what’s next? Adjust the environment. As a mom, I know this struggle in particular all too well! At a young age, I would follow Nasiir’s sleep schedule. When he slept, I slept! Just like that. He is now fourteen, and have created his own schedule because of that household habit. How is your schedule aligned with the children or your partner? How can you adjust it to be more beneficial for you?! Remember, sleep care is intentional, so this means making space. This may require switching the room around, dimming the lights at a different time, or having boundaries around bedtime. Boundaries could look like, no food, no drinks, and DND at your set time. In my house, I dim the lights close to my bedtime which is 10:00pm. I will usually get my bath together using my Sweet Surrender Bath Soak or a nice hot shower to prepare my mind and body for sleep, and use a nice oil that will moisturize my body while sleeping. Oh, and I let all of my friends and family know how much I value sleep and that I will be sleep at 10:00pm lol. They have adjusted and respect it! So, think about the ways in which you adjust the environment for your sleep routines? Is it conducive for your wellbeing? What are some practices or investments that you can make to ensure that you are being supported throughout your sleep care routine?

Step 3: Indulge in your Wellness Practice

Now that you have taken the necessary steps, to secure a holistic nighttime routine, celebrate! Taking inventory and adjusting the environment are both weighty enough to add a little stress. So, take your time with this change. But, when you find your flow, dont hesitate to indulge. This could look like finding your favorite wellness brands and finding products that are specific to your need and liking. Marshalls and TJ Maxx always have very affordable and quality linen and sleep care products. Don’t be afraid to change that bed! Take that bath! Turn those lights off! Put that phone on DND and simply allow your body to rest and restore for full functioning on the rising morning.
